We will also be working with other soothing sounds including lap harp, harmonic chimes and various percussive instruments.

Chocolate is a beautiful ingredient full of aromas and is delicious way to experience the soothing benefits of meditation and mindful awareness.

What can you expect?

– Gentle opening meditation to calm your system and help get you body-connected
– Guided mindful eating meditation that engages all the senses using the single origin dark chocolate Meredith uses in her chocolate making (from beautiful bean-to-bar brand Pump St Chocolate)
– Short closing meditation to help you leave the workshop feeling calm and soothed (this varies from month to month to cover different types of meditation, such as a body scan, loving kindness or guided visualisation)

You’ll receive a special chocolatey treat to take away and taste (mindfully!) using some of the techniques we’ll explore in the workshop.

Meredith will also share ways you can extend breathing and mindfulness techniques into everyday living. There will be plenty of time to ask questions as you explore the different techniques.

This meditation workshop is suitable for new and experienced meditators. Meditation is a very personal experience and there’s no right or wrong way to feel about it! However, we won’t be aiming to transcend to any higher planes or tap into different states of consciousness; this workshop is about grounding, connecting and calming.

Please note if you are suffering from certain diagnosed mental health conditions (including clinical depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder) you should always seek support your supporting clinician before taking part in
meditation. Meredith will send a form to complete ahead of the workshop to help you identify any information or support you should seek before taking part in the session.

YOGA = UNION.
Aug

YOGA = UNION.

This is a body positive, inclusive yoga practise and spirit gathering.

Yoga is a tool to help us connect with and understand each other and ourselves. Part of this journey of understanding is acknowledging the ways in which we are not always living in unity.

I invite you to join me in a safe space...
where we see each other...
and share in our vulnerability.
Let's use this gathering to choose love- for ourselves, and all others.

We will explore through body positive asana, meditation, use of voice and creative play.

Then we'll all share a vegan Gujarati Indian meal; an offering from my family and honouring of the Indian roots of yoga.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come and connect in this circle, including:
people of colour,
intersectional people,
those who consider themselves to have a disability,
people with no former yoga practise,
people who may have felt uncomfortable or unwelcome in yoga spaces before.

::No one will be excluded due to ticket price. Please get in touch with me if there is support that could enable you to attend::

In advance, I'm honoured to hold space for you.

All profits of this event will be donated to the OMpowerment Project, a grassroots charity teaching trauma sensitive yoga to refugees and marginalised communities around the world. To check out more of our work, visit ompower.org

Traditional Indian Block Printing with Studio Bagru

Traditional Indian Block Printing with Studio Bagru

Head & Hands is delighted to welcome Studio BAGRU on a rare visit from India to London. Delve into the rich textile tradition of India, learn how to block print, design your own tote bag and “upcycle” your preloved clothes in this 2.5 hour workshop with Studio Bagru founder, Jeremy Fritzhand.

The workshop will begin with a short talk by Jeremy on the rich history and cultural significance of block printing in northern India. He will share his story of how he set up a pioneering social enterprise in Bagru.

After a demonstration of the technique, students will have an opportunity to use any combination of the 100+ hand carved wooden blocks travelled from India.

You will be provided a tote bag to print on and are invited to “upcycle” up to three items of existing clothing or textiles with bold and exciting new prints.

You can expect to:

  • Learn about the history of block printing

  • Explore how to effectively apply colour and match patterns

  • Discuss the importance of sustainability and “slow fashion”

  • Leave with your own hand printed tote bag with a small selection of Indian treats and up to 3 items of your own clothing refreshed with a new block print.

    Please bring:

  • Up to three items of clothing or textiles that you’d like to print on in addition to the tote bag provided

  • Wear clothing you do not mind getting a little inky, or bring an apron

About Jeremy Fritzhand

Jeremy first travelled to India in 2010 when he was awarded the Minerva fellowship to assist in setting up a social enterprise. Living and working alongside the Chippa people of Bagru, Jeremy founded Bagru Textiles with an aim of bridging the gap between block-printing artisans and consumers around the world. Located 30kms from Jaipur, the bustling and bombastic capital, Bagru village has remained loyal to its history, culture and craftsmanship and is now one of the last existing hubs for block printing in northern India. Jeremy now splits his time between managing his central Jaipur Boutique - Studio Bagru, running block printing tours and workshops and assisting up and coming brands with textile sourcing.

About Block Printing

Block printing is around 3000 years old, with Indian textiles referenced by Pliny the Elder and found in Egyptian kings tombs. The Chippa (literally people who stamp or print) revere the traditional materials they use and many regard their work as a form of worship. A designs life begins with the careful carving of printing blocks. One block is needed for each colour in the design and each block can take as many as two days to carve.

Blocks are commonly carved from two types of wood in Bagru. Teak is used for its durability in background blocks and rosewood for its hardness and use in creating detailed and intricate blocks. Once the dyes are mixed and poured into trays, printing is ready to begin. Blocks are aligned by sight before the rhythmic “one-two” punch of the hands transfers the dye to the cloth.

Reiki Level Two Attunement: Deepen your practice

REIKI LEVEL TWO ATTUNEMENT with Danielle & Louise

Reiki Two is open to people who have already completed a Reiki One training and wish to deepen their practice take it to the next level. With a Reiki Two qualification, you can set yourself up to practice professionally or if you prefer, to keep Reiki as a tool for personal development, self healing and treating friends and family. Reiki also complements other healing modalities beautifully such as massage, sound healing, crystal healing and yoga/movement work.

You will be led through the course by two certified Reiki masters Danielle Galway and Louise Shiels both offering their unique perspectives on their Reiki practice. Groups are kept small and intimate so that everyone receives individual attention and guidance.

In Reiki Two you will learn all about the Reiki symbols, these are sacred symbols that have been passed down from one Reiki master to another that are a way of focussing the practitioners energy and intention. The symbols are a beautiful tool to enhance Reiki and people find they integrate them into many areas of their lives.

In Reiki Two you will also learn how to practice distance healing: the process of sending Reiki to someone, and how to send Reiki to heal past trauma. You will be learning how to work with clients and there will be a revision of energy clearing and protection techniques as these will become even more important once you begin to work with others.

This course will include:

– Receiving the Reiki Symbols and learning how to implement them into your practice
– Guided meditations to allow you to connect with the higher energies
– Time to share and ask questions
– Practising Reiki in pairs
– Advice for development with your practice
– Advice on working with clients and practising Reiki professionally
– A revision of grounding and protection techniques
– Attunement to Reiki Level Two (Usui Lineage)
– A comprehensive Reiki Level Two Manual
– A Reiki Level Two Certificate of completion

This will be a full day of ceremony, guided meditations and time for you to share Reiki with each other and become familiar with the Reiki symbols. We will create a safe, healing space enabling you to absorb the teachings and energies whilst feeling relaxed and grounded.

In order to get the most out of this training, we recommend that you carry out a cleanse prior to the attunement although this is not necessary if it’s not practical for you. It is also highly recommended that you continue with a 21-day self-healing practice after completion of the course to ground yourself in the practice and assist in any clearing that is taking place within you.

We look forward to guiding and supporting you as you continue in your Reiki journey.

The course is £180 including a £80 deposit that will secure your place.

HOW TO MANIFEST YOUR HAPPILY EVER AFTER: a journey from Seeking Love to Being Love

You may have been looking for love in many different places but still feeling that true and lasting happiness keeps eluding you.  You either fall in love too quickly, or find yourself staying  in a relationship that doesn’t work for too long, or choose to avoid romantic relationships with men completely. Sometimes, you might be hearing a voice in your head which is telling you: “You are just not good enough to have a happy fulfilling relationship… ”

Is there a part of you that wishes that…

  • Instead of endlessly searching for love and belonging, you could feel whole and at peace while letting love find you…

  • You could allow yourself to be the centre of your own Universe and, at the same time, be the centre of your partner’s Universe, too…

  • Receiving love for yourself was as easy as breathing…

  • You felt deep in your soul that living ‘Happily Ever After’ is your birth right and a true possibility…

  • You could let go of striving and self-judgement, and just knew that you are enough…

If your answer is “YES!” this one day long immersive transformational workshop for women is for you. Why? Because you are not meant to figure it out all alone.

In an intimate circle of a maximum 10 participants we are going to embark on a magical journey into the centre of our Heart’s Universe and re-discover our power to manifest Happily Ever After and the life we most desire. All day long we are going to be exploring, sharing, creating, listening, reflecting, playing and learning. We will be allowing ourselves to show up and connect with each other authentically and without judgement.  We will be supporting one another and allowing ourselves to be supported.

After the workshop, you can expect the following results:

  • You will have an insight into what has been holding you back in your search for love and how to let it go

  • You will begin to believe that you are enough

  • You will be able to relate to yourself with more appreciation and self-compassion

  • You will feel more open to receive love

  • You will have an increased awareness of your power to make better choices

  • You will have a vision and a strategy for manifesting your Happily Ever After

Launette has been working with cacao for just over a decade. She honed her craft in London after discovering the health benefits of un-roasted cacao in 2009, when she first met Charlotte. Combining her own aesthetic and love of wholesome and delicious food, she started a business making and selling delicacies and teaching chocolate workshops all over the country. Her love of herbs, healing plants, organic foods and ‘real’ chocolate has fuelled her passion for making bean to bar chocolate and helped spread her message.

She now resides In the Sussex countryside with her young family where she has found her relationship with nature only enhances her creativity and connection to food.

Charlotte has been practicing yoga for over a decade, and loves the wholesomeness that yoga continuously gives, her practice came about naturally from her background in body work and healing fields and also her own self-development journey.

Her strong desire to teach happened organically during a life changing trip to India and after completing her teacher training here in London, she hasn’t looked back since. She offers a soulful vinyasa practice with a focus on the breath and space to really feel the postures, as well as be fully empowered within a complete yoga experience. Her teaching takes her all over London within different public and private teaching environments.

Hawthorn & Cacao Sound Ceremony

Hawthorn & Cacao Sound Ceremony

This is a ceremony to bring us fully into our loving hearts with the beautiful medicines of Hawthorn and Cacao. Hawthorn has been used throughout the ages as a cardio tonic but it is also a very powerful 'energy medicine' for the heart. It helps open the heart to giving and receiving love and can hold the heart during times of emotional stress. It encourages self-love and self-acceptance and encourages a truly open hearted state. A member of the Rose family this plant is used energetically for protection of the heart allows one to access hope, trust, love, and forgiveness.
Cacao encourages us to loosen the grips around our heart and disperse any energetic blockages we may be carrying. She helps us to surrender up that which no longer serves to create space for the new. Cacao empowers us to connect more deeply and effortlessly to our own intuition and heart wisdom and allows us to access realms that are often unavailable to us when we are not still and present.
Always gentle and gracious these medicines work together beautifully to help heal and open our hearts.
Together we will drink ceremonial grade cacao from the Peruvian Andes infused with Hawthorn. I will lead you on a short meditation before you set off on a sound journey with the gong and other instruments as your guide. There is nothing for you to do but surrender and receive.
++ If you are sensitive to cacao but would still like to join then let me know in advance and you can have a Hawthorn tea without the cacao.++

Comforting rose tea and healthy biscuits will be provided after the ceremony as we enjoy some grounding, integration time together.

Simone Julien - Flow With Intention Yoga

“I believe that to truly hold the space as a teacher of yoga, one must have the open mindedness of a student and be comfortably in the flow of discipline and surrender.  These are some of the values of which I hold, and consider myself to have a refreshing understanding of what it means to be a yoga teacher.  When I first began practicing yoga, my intention was & still is to use the practice as a tool to reconnect & understand myself - it is with the same intention I have created the class "Flow with Intention".  Together we will create harmonious union between mind, body & spirit, this class has been created to connect you to yourself.  All are welcome to be embraced, in a gentle & nurturing series of pranayama, flow & meditation - helping to restore inner balance & raise the vibration within”

The Fluid Body
May

11:00 AM11:00

The Fluid Body

A workshop that really is more like a scrumptious extended practice where you'll have time and permission to play, explore and be creative with movements, transitions and poses.

While stringing together movements that are yoga and mobility inspired, I will guide into a journey deep into your bones. I will teach you how to move from your bones strongly and softly. It is common to create rigidity and gripping when wanting to build a stronger and mobile body but that isn't necessary. When we learn to soften, to work with the body, instead of against it, we have the ability to create strength and suppleness at the same time.

I love teaching this workshop because you will have plenty of time to play and be curious about yoga poses and beyond them.

More than giving you a set of instructions and how you should feel while moving or holding a pose, I will ask you to look in and find answers on your own. I will give you permission to create and own your own experience. Because this is invaluable and you are entitled to your experience.

How do you earth your hands when you are in all 4s?
How does earthing create expansion? In which directions do you feel the expansion?
What happens when you push into the ground? When you pull?
How do you experience the space around you? How do you move your bones in the space around you? How is gravity playing with your bones?
How can we ground and be light?

This is a practice that has no level.
Whatever stage you’re at with you movement, please know that you are very welcome to join.

There will be music playing with your eardrums.
There will be sounds that your vocal chords will create when we open the practice with chanting a mantra.
Your nostrils, throat and spine will light up at the touch of your own breath.

If you would like to experience a practice out of the box, out of the labels, fun, challenging and liberating, a practice that gives you the tools to bring you closer to your deeper self and far from a set sequence, this is the workshop for you.

And I can't wait to meet you."
